In the newborn, certain physical findings, such as heart murmur, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure (CHF), and cyanosis, are suspicious for heart disease.
The prevalence of congenital heart disease (CHD) in infants in the United States is approximately 5 to 8 per 1,000 live births.
