Pulmonary disorders such as cystic fibrosis (CF), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and asthma may compromise a child’s growth and acquisition of specific nutrients, and nutritional deficiencies may adversely affect the overall course of these conditions. On the other hand, overnutrition plays a role in the development or severity of pulmonary disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or Prader-Willi syndrome. Thus, understanding nutritional issues is important in the care of children with pulmonary disorders.
