When my practice decided to start talking about caregiver trauma as a part of taking relational health histories (RHHs), there was one physician in the office who declined to participate. At first, I was really hung up on the idea of trying to convince him that this was the right thing to do; I tried to think of different ways to persuade him that we really were helping families by doing this work. But his heart just wasn’t in it, so he chose to stay on the sidelines.
