This chapter contains a series of Quick Reference Sheets about some of the infections and infestations that commonly occur in children in early childhood education (ECE) and school settings. The Quick Reference Sheets are arranged in alphabetical order according to what the conditions and diseases are commonly called, not necessarily their scientific names (eg, chickenpox instead of varicella zoster).
Each sheet contains information about common signs and symptoms, incubation and contagious periods, spread, infection control, the role of the parent or educator, exclusion criteria, and return-to-care criteria. Copy these Quick Reference Sheets to facilitate communication among parents, educators, and pediatric health professionals. No permission is necessary to make single copies for noncommercial, educational purposes.
