Leonard Apt, M.D., FAAP, received the 1994 Cincinnati Pediatric Historical Society's "Hall of Honor" distinction, in recognition of his contributions to pediatrics. Dr. Apt is an alumnus of Cincinnati Children's Hospital and founding chief of the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine.

Dr. Apt is a professor of ophthalmology at UCLA and was the first U.S. physician to be board certified in both pediatrics and ophthalmology.

Elizabeth Hillman, M.D., FAAP, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCP), and her husband, Donald Hillman, M.D., Ph.D, FRCP, have been jointly awarded the "Order of Canada" award, given annually to 50 Canadians by the Governor General of Canada.
