More than 20 percent of 72 adolescents questioned at a North Carolina hospital and a juvenile detention center reported having played Russian roulette, according to the December 1995 Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

"Players" included males and females, whites and African-Americans. Most participants reported using drugs and alcohol during the "game."
