The American Academy of Pediatrics recently received the American Association of Medical Society Executives Spirit Award, Certificate of Achievement for Collaborative Excellence, for its participation in the study "Case Study Analysis of Single Specialty Physician Networks."
The award is given to organizations partaking in projects and programs that epitomize excellence in collaboration between groups within organized medicine.
The study highlighted key success factors for a single specialty physician network (SSPN), as well as the strategic pitfalls that can occur. One site visit was made to each of seven SSPNs targeted for the study. Researchers looked at factors leading to the formation of the SSPN, the structure of the network and their current operations, governance and contractual arrangements.
