Jane Schaller, M.D., FAAP, recently earned the distinction of being elected the first American president of the International Pediatric Association (IPA) during its tri-annual meeting in Amsterdam. Other AAP Fellows appointed to IPA governing positions include AAP Deputy Executive Director Errol Alden, M.D., who will serve as coordinator, and Karen Olness, M.D., Elizabeth Hillman, M.D., and Burris Duncan, M.D., who will serve on the standing committee.

Dr. Schaller will serve three years as president - elect before assuming a three-year term as IPA president in the year 2001. She is the David and Leona Karp Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of International Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
