It's election time again — Make sure your voice is heard! Help promote children's issues by meeting with political candidates, attending town forums and, of course, voting in November.
Anyone running for public office — whether it's for school board, city council, the statehouse or U.S. Congress — needs to hear from people who care about children. Candidates often talk about children, but our youth deserve more. They deserve action.
Ask the candidates questions, in writing or in person, to make them demonstrate their commitment to children. The Coalition for America's Children, chaired by the Academy, has "sample questions for candidates" cards for child advocates to distribute. Some sample questions include:
