New fraud seminar title: "Clueless, Careless, Centsless: Avoiding Health Care Fraud in Your Practice"

The Council on Pediatric Practice is pleased to present an important seminar during the Annual Meeting for pediatricians who may not be aware of a hidden threat to their medical practice. The federal government has redefined what constitutes medical fraud and abuse in health care settings including private medical practices. What may have been considered acceptable business procedures in the past, such as offering "professional courtesy" to certain patients, under the new rules may trigger a federal investigation for medical fraud. The Office of the Inspector General, Department of Justice, Health Care Financing Administration and other federal agencies have created an anti-fraud dragnet throughout the health industry. More than $1 billion will be poured into an effort over the next five years to prosecute physicians and other health care providers found abusing the system.
