The majority of pediatricians responding to a recent chapter needs assessment say the Academy does a good to excellent job of keeping them informed, with many of them indicating e-mail as the preferred method of communication from the Academy.

The AAP Division of Chapter and District Relations conducted a needs assessment of chapter officers and executive directors to evaluate the current Academy services available to chapters and to determine chapters’ future needs. Results are preliminary with 85% of U.S. chapters and 14% of Canadian chapters responding. A final report is forthcoming.

Among the preliminary results of the survey:

93% of respondents reported that the Academy does a good to excellent job in keeping them informed of important issues — the same percentage reported in a 1997 chapter needs assessment.
