Joseph F. Hagan Jr., M.D., FAAP, and other members of the AAP Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, were busy throughout February with media interviews about the Academy’s new co-parent adoption policy statement (

). Many AAP members also took the time to answer reporters’ questions and write letters to various publications.

February also marked the March kick-off of the Babies First campaign, which focuses this year on the importance of early hearing screening and treatment. Babies First is a biannual initiative. To promote the campaign, AAP President Louis Z. Cooper, M.D., FAAP, teamed with actress Marlee Matlin and officials from Wal-Mart and the Pampers Parenting Institute for a satellite media tour in Bentonville, Ark.
