With the advantage of over 57,000 members, from diverse backgrounds (generalists, specialists and subspecialists) and diverse practice settings (private practice, managed care, academia, public health) the American Academy of Pediatrics has garnered enough energy and expertise to advocate for many issues of concern to pediatricians and children.
Three such major issues are: 1) equal access to all aspects of health care for every child, 2) equitable reimbursement to pediatricians for all levels of service, and 3) programs to prevent, diagnose and treat the violence that pervades the life of many children.
