Radio spots recorded by 50 members from all over the country during last October’s AAP National Conference & Exhibition in Boston reached a radio audience of more than 27 million, with topics ranging from immunization to sports injuries to ATV safety. The “Hometown Radio” project spots have been aired by 528 national network stations, 555 regional stations and 85 local stations in 26 states.

The following AAP members also spoke with the media in December. Space restrictions prohibit listing everyone:

• Carol J. Baker, M.D., FAAP, and Leonard Weiner, M.D., FAAP, members of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases, were quoted by the Washington Post in an article about a combination vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

• Sophie J. Balk, M.D., FAAP, chair of the AAP Committee on Environmental Health, was quoted by Parenting magazine in a news brief about whether it’s safe...
