The Academy has taken action to stop bullying among children and youth by becoming a partner in a public education campaign to offer free resource kits and other materials to health professionals. The Academy is a national partner of the Take a Stand. Lend a Hand. Stop Bullying Now! campaign with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

According to research from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Nickelodeon, over half of 8- to 11-year-olds and close to 70% of 12- to 15-year-olds say that bullying is a big problem. The impact of bullying on children’s well-being and health is tremendous. Studies have shown people who bully others often behave badly in school and are more likely to smoke and drink alcohol.
