A Boston pediatrician is coordinating a trans-Atlantic project to-provide sophisticated treatment for Indonesian children suffering from Dengue Shock Syndrome and other life-threatening diseases.

Robert Crone, M.D., FAAP, has been selected to serve as medical coordinator for Project HOPE's child health program in Indonesia.

Through the program, Dr. Crone and other health professionals are working side-by-side with Indonesian counterparts to upgrade the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of Indonesia Medical School teaching hospital, located in the capital city of Jakarta. In doing so, they also are laying a clinical practice foundation for research of life-threatening diseases in children.
