Laerdal Global Health, the nonprofit company that makes the mannequins used in the AAP Helping Babies Breathe training program, was honored with an INDEX: Design to Improve Life Award in the Body category. The INDEX Award recognizes sustainable solutions to global challenges.
The Natalie Collection of mannequins was judged award-worthy for form, impact, context and ability to address large-scale challenges that the world faces today and/or in the future. The collection includes NeoNatalie Suction, NeoNatalie Newborn Simulator and MamaNatalie Breathing Simulator, all used to train birth attendants in developing countries on lifesaving measures. The Helping Babies Breathe course materials will be part of a Design to Improve Life exhibition that will tour major cities worldwide over the next 24 months.
