More than 300 pediatric leaders from the United States and Canada discussed leading child health topics and the future of their profession at the AAP Annual Leadership Forum (ALF) March 14-17.

Through the resolution process, ALF voters made recommendations to the Board of Directors on a course of action and selected their Top 10 resolutions (see sidebar below).

Attendees also discussed five AAP priority areas selected by the ALF Executive Committee: children, adolescents and the media; the first 1,000 days of life; global child health; family engagement in AAP activities; and immigrant child health.

Keynote speaker Andrew Garner, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP, provided an overview of advances in developmental science as it relates to toxic stress and offered a public health approach to prevent toxic stress and its lifelong consequences.

Under the direction of Chair Carmelita Britton, M.D., FAAP, the meeting had five aims:
