George E. Prince, M.D., FAAP, of Wilmington, N.C., died Nov. 27 at age 92 following a fall.
Past president of the North Carolina Chapter (1984-’86) and the North Carolina Pediatric Society (1970), he was the state’s coordinator for Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS). He received a Citation of Good Service from the Academy for contributions to PROS from 1986-1992.
Dr. Prince practiced general pediatrics in Gastonia from 1947 until 1986. He then entered public health as a clinician, supervisor of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and medical director at Gaston County Health Department, retiring in 1998.
He earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, completed an internship at The Children’s Hospital, Harvard Pediatric Service Boston and residency at Children’s Hospital, Louisville, Ky.
