Robert Perelman, M.D., FAAP, is retiring from the Academy after 17 years as the director of the AAP Department of Education and nine years as an AAP associate executive director.

His contributions have led to the birth and growth of several educational programs and resources for pediatricians, subspecialists, residents and medical students addressing continuing medical education, scholarly journals, e-learning, workforce and neonatal resuscitation.

Under his guidance, the National Conference & Exhibition and international attendance grew substantially. Online education became a reality with the launch of the AAP PediaLink and Education in Quality Improvement for Pediatric Practice (eQIPP) programs. The Academy’s educational programs have received successive Accreditation with Commendation Decisions from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. With his support, scholarly journals and periodicals, including Pediatrics and AAP News, expanded from print to online to digital/mobile.
