The Academy has endorsed a statement that outlines necessary competencies for pediatric faculty teaching and practicing global health.

Faculty Competencies for Global Health was developed by the Academic Pediatric Association Global Health Task Force to address a void of structured competencies to meet an expanding demand for those working in research, education, administration and clinical practice in global child health.

The five competency domains, adapted from existing practice competencies, are values/ethics, roles/responsibilities, communication, team-building and teamwork, and special considerations in culturally unfamiliar and limited-resource surroundings. Specific expectations for faculty are listed under each of the five domains.
