Officials at the American Medical Association (AMA) are asking pediatricians to complete and return AMA surveys mailed in November to some AAP members.

The survey, conducted by the AMA Council on Medical Service, covers how some third party payor programs affect the quality of medical care.

The programs require prior authorization of all claims as a condition for payment. Other programs review retrospectively the appropriateness of claims.
