The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has subpoenaed the Academy for information in connection with its investigation of infant formula sales and marketing practices.

On Sept. 28, the Academy received an FTC subpoena asking, among other things, for all documents relating to the Academy's policy against direct consumer advertising of infant formula. It also asks for documents pertaining to any AAP contacts with infant formula companies.
