The August 1992 American Academy of Pediatrics News has a curious juxtaposition of counterproductive efforts in the immunization field. There is a strong effort to increase the immunization of our children, both by records showing the salutary effect of the HIB shots, and Secretary Sullivan's point of view urging increased immunizations for all children, particularly the poor. There is an article on minority groups having many barriers to care, including immunizations, and the CDC's strong recommendation to screen and vaccinate all preschool children.
