Just prior to the legalization of abortion in the U.S. in 1973, those in favor used an argument now proven false. It was claimed that the unwanted child became the abused child; so eliminating the unwanted child by abortion would reduce child abuse. To the contrary, a study in 1980 by University of California professor Edward Lenoski on 674 abused children showed that 91 percent were wanted; that abuse was linked to patterns of abuse in the parent's own childhood or problems at birth, etc. Now we are seeing a huge escalation of abuse.
