I was very distressed to see the highly political political cartoon in the September 1993 AAP News. I am a firm believer in the right of free speech, and if I bought the Boston Globe, where the cartoon first appeared, I would deserve what I got. However, I find it offensive to think that a portion of my dues, regardless of how small, is going to pay for the expression of biased political views in the AAP News.

As unlikely as it may seem, there are a few members of the Academy who do, indeed, believe that Joycelyn Elders has no business giving our kids "condoms, abortions, instructions about sex."
