Liquid antibiotics recalled

Eli Lilly and Co., Indianapolis, has recalled approximately 4 million bottles of liquid antibiotics, because they might contain small plastic caps that could choke patients, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials reported. Four plastic caps were found in these medications between January and March 1994, FDA officials report, and one near-choking incident was associated with the caps.

Consumers who have purchased Ceclor, Lorabid or Keflex since January 1994 should stop taking the medications, and call their physician, FDA spokesman Tom McGinnis said. Physician samples of these products also should be discarded.
