The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s new searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Hazard: Young children can open the locks and get into dangerous items in the cabinet.
Description: Safety 1st Push ’N Snap cabinet locks have model numbers 48391 and 48442 and were manufactured between January 2004 and November 2010. Model numbers are printed on the back of the product. The locks are used to secure cabinets with two straps that wrap around the knobs or handles on a cabinet door. When the product is in the “lock” position, a green triangle shows through a window on the device.
Sold at: Bed Bath & Beyond, retailers nationwide and at Amazon.com from January 2004 through February 2012 for $2 to $4.
Remedy: Remove locks, store dangerous items out of reach of children and contact Dorel for a free replacement lock with model numbers HS158 or HS159.
