The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Units: About 25,000 in the United States and 3,500 in Canada
Hazard: If children pull the sensor pad cord into their crib, it can wrap around their neck and strangle them.
Description: Model numbers 1082S and 1094S of Tommee Tippee Movement and Sound Baby Monitors with Sensor Pads are recalled. They come with a baby unit, parent unit and movement sensor pad. A 10-foot cord runs from the pad to the baby monitor unit; it fits under the crib mattress and sounds an alarm if no movement is detected for 20 seconds. A keypad and small screen are on the baby and parent units.
Sold at: Toys R Us/Babies R Us and Amazon.com since September 2011 for about $150.
Remedy: Remove all monitor cords from children’s reach, and contact the company for a free cord cover kit, a new warning label about strangulation risk and revised instructions.
