Uninsured patients

Uninsured patients receive fewer hospital treatments and are likely to be discharged earlier than their insured peers, two Boston researchers conclude.

Harvard University researchers Joel Weissman and Arnold Epstein, M.D., studied more than 65,000 cases at 52 Boston hospitals. They found "important differences in (uninsured patients') utilization even after patients are hospitalized" in all types of hospitals, including major teaching and public hospitals.
