The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is committed to the provision of the highest quality of care for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Pediatric health care delivered by a nonphysician provider requires an interdependent relationship with a pediatrician and a clear understanding between both parties of the roles of each. To that end, the AAP opposes the independent practice of nonphysician providers.
