Tubular bunk beds might collapse

Three brands of tubular metal bunk beds have been recalled because the beds might collapse during use, risking injury from the falling upper bunk, according to a statement by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The following brands are recalled:

• MPC Trading Company, El Monte, Calif., recalled 8,600 tubular bunk beds sold in California between December 1991 and February 1993. Model 3013, a twin-over-full-size bed, and model 3012, a twin-over-twin bed, are involved. Consumers should stop using the beds and contact retailers for repairs, replacements or refunds. For questions, contact the CPSC, (800) 638-2772.
