Baby-garment recall

The Schwab Co., Cumberland, Md., is recalling 5,000 infant garments, style number 3941. Wooden buttons attached to the garment by metal staple-like shanks might detach, presenting a choking or inhaling hazard to infants.

The one-piece baby garment is a white cotton jersey with thin blue stripes. A red "24" is stitched with blue thread onto the garment's left side. Its three round buttons on the front resemble baseballs. The garment's label reads in part: "Little Me ... 100% Cotton ... Made in USA."

Garments with matching blue-and-white baseball hats sold for approximately $27 in department stores and children's specialty shops during spring 1992.

For a full refund, including postage, consumers should send garments to The Schwab Co., P.O. Box 1742, Upper Potomac Industrial Park, Cumberland, MD 21501;(301) 729-4488.
