Cabbage Patch dolls

Mattel Inc. announced a refund program for approximately 500,000 Cabbage Patch Kids Snacktime Kids dolls. In at least 35 incidents, hair and fingers became caught in the dolls' mouths, but no serious injuries were reported, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC).

The doll's chewing action can be stopped by removing the backpack. Although the dolls have not been recalled, the CPSC is continuing its investigation. Dolls will be withdrawn from store shelves and their distribution will end, Mattel representatives said.

To receive the $40 refund, consumers should send a note containing their name and return address along with the doll, to: Mattel Distribution Center, 14310 Ramona Ave., Chino, CA, 91710. For more information, contact Mattel at (800) 335-1700.
