Gerber products
Gerber products should not be recalled despite recent reports of finding glass in the products, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says.
In a statement issued Feb. 28, the FDA wrote that it examined more than 23,000 previously unopened jars of various Gerber baby foods and found only five jars containing harmless specks of glass. The glass ranged in size from that of a grain of salt to a little larger than the head of a pin — a finding it called "compatible with the state-of-the-art production of foods in glass containers."
The FDA examined these jars, obtained from stores and warehouses, after receiving complaints regarding glass found in Gerber products.
