The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed.

Two companies are recalling hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings through the hood because they can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

Product: Candie's brand children's hoodie sweatshirts with drawstrings

Units: 4,500

Manufacturer: The Cayre Group, of New York.

Description: The recalled zip front hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings were sold in four youth sizes S (7-8), M (9-12), L (14) and XL(16).

Sold at: Kohl's department stores and on Kohls.com from August through September 2006 for $20 to $36.

Remedy: Remove the drawstrings from the sweat-shirts or contact The Cayre Group to return the merchandise for a refund.

Product: Youth hooded sweatshirts

Units: 114,000

Manufacturer: Gildan Activewear SRL, of Barbados

Description: The fleece sweat-shirts were sold in youth sizes XS to XL, and have a Gildan Activewear neck label. The sweatshirts were manufactured in 12 different colors and logos, and sportswear decals often are added to these sweatshirts at local retailers.

Sold at: Wholesale distributors and sportswear programs nationwide from January through September 2006 for $13 to $20.

Remedy: Remove the drawstrings from the sweat-shirts.
