Mattel recalls millions of toys with lead, small magnets

Mattel Inc., of El Segundo, Calif., is recalling toys that may contain lead or have small magnets. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. If a child swallows more than one magnet, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage,which can be fatal.

Units: About 253,000

Description: The “Sarge” cars, which look like military jeeps, could contain lead. The die cast car is sold alone or in a package of two and has “7EA” and “China” on the bottom.

Sold at: Retail stores nationwide from May through August 2007 for$7 to $20.
