Mattel recalls millions of toys with lead, small magnets

Mattel Inc., of El Segundo, Calif., is recalling toys that may contain lead or have small magnets. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. If a child swallows more than one magnet, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage,which can be fatal.

Units: About 675,000

Description: The recall involves various Barbie accessory toys including the Dream Kitty Condo, Table and Chairs Kitchen, Bathtub and Toilet,Futon and Table Living Room, Desk and Chair Bedroom and Couch & Table Living Room sets, and the Barbie Dream Puppy House. Toys were manufactured between Sept. 30, 2006, and Aug. 20, 2007.

Sold at: Retail stores nationwide from October 2006 through August 2007 for about $10.
