The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed.
The Food and Drug Administration is recalling about 1,700 MRL/Welch Allyn AED 20 Automatic External Defibrillators, serial numbers 205787 through 207509. The recalled devices may display a “Defib Comm” error message during use, preventing the defibrillator from analyzing the heart's rhythm and delivering the correct treatment.
The devices were manufactured between October 2003 and January 2005 at the former MRL Inc. facility in Buffalo Grove, Ill. They are used by emergency or medical personnel to treat adult and pediatric patients in the case of a heart attack.
Owners of the devices should contact their Welch Allyn representative to obtain a loaner AED 20 at no cost while their unit is being serviced. For more information, call 800-462-0777.
