The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced recalls of the following product. Consumers should stop using recalled product unless otherwise instructed.

Manufacturer: Conair Corp., of Stamford, Conn.

Hazard: The handle of the curling iron can come apart exposing its line cord, posing a shock or electrocution hazard to consumers.

Description: This recall involves ceramic, gold-matte finish curling irons. The irons have a 1, 1¼ or 1½-inch barrel, metal counter rest, vertically placed ON-OFF buttons, and a heat set dial that ranges from 0 to 30. Date codes include November 2005 through July 2006 (e.g., 0706).

Sold at: Discount retailers and drug-stores nationwide during January 2006 for about $25.

Remedy: Stop using the curling iron and contact Conair to receive a free replacement.
