The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled product unless otherwise instructed.
Two companies are recalling children's toy jewelry because they contain high levels of lead, which can be toxic if ingested by young children.
Product: Children's necklaces, bracelets and rings
Units: About 200,000
Importer: Spandrel Sales and Marketing Inc., of Tempe, Ariz.
Description: Pendants that hang from silver-colored bracelet and necklace chains, and silver-colored rings with a charm on top are involved. Charm shapes include silver-colored crosses, suns, moons, stars, butterflies,cupids, angels, keys, elephants, hands, cell phones, fish and shoes.
Sold at: Vending machines in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from February through March 2007 for 25 cents.
Remedy: Throw items away.

Product: Children's metal jewelry
Units: About 103,000
Distributor/retailer: Tween Brands Inc., of New Albany, Ohio
Description: Some of the recalled necklaces, bracelets, earrings and charms are metallic, multicolored and have “High School Musical”or pictures of “High School Musical” actors printed on them. Others have frogs, hearts, stars, dogs with bones, flowers and monkeys that hang from silver, black or brown chains or cords.
Sold at: Limited Too and Justice retail stores nationwide, the Limited Too catazine (catalog) and at www.limitedtoo.comfrom September 2005 through May 2007 for $2 to $10.
Remedy: Return recalled jewelry to any Limited Too or Justice store for a refund and a coupon for a 15% discount off a future purchase.
