The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed.

Two firms are recalling children's jewelry because it contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Product: Butterfly necklaces

Units: About 19,000

Importer: GeoCentral, of Napa, Calif.

Description: The recalled necklaces consist of a butterfly pendant on a seed bead 16-inch necklace.

Sold at: Souvenir and gift stores nationwide from January 2006 through May 2007 for about $2.

Remedy: Return the items to store where purchased for a refund or contact GeoCentral for information on how to obtain a refund.

Product: “Accessories” silver stud earring sets

Units: About 5,300

Importer: Crimzon Rose Accessories, of North Providence, R.I.

Description: The earrings are oval-shaped, silver-colored studs.

Sold exclusively at: Kmart stores nationwide from October 2004 through March 2007 for about $3.

Remedy: Return the recalled earrings to any Kmart store for a free replacement pair of earrings.
