Products with magnets recalled

The following products are being recalled because they contain magnets that can detach. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

Importer: Pacific Science Supplies Inc., of Bensenville, Ill.

Description: The recalled magnets come in a variety of sizes and shapes: large and small U-shaped magnets; large and miniature bar magnets; magnet sets with a small U-shaped magnet, two small bar magnets and two small compasses; and magnet needle sets with 10 sets of small cone-shape bases and elongated-diamond-shaped magnets, which can be fastened into the bases.

Sold through: Distributors nationwide, which sell to colleges, high schools and middle schools. A small number were sold through educational stores nationwide from April 2000 through February 2008 for about $9.
