The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. For a complete list of recalled products, visit www.cpsc.gov.
Two companies are recalling cribs:
Units: About 56,450 (in addition to 320,000 recalled in June 2008)
Importer: Jardine Enterprises, of Taipei, Taiwan
Hazard: The wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers.
Description: This recall involves Jardine wooden cribs with the following model and date codes: DA715BC (date codes between 2/04-1/07); 0108L00 (7/06-11/07); and 0308C00 (12/05-11/07).
Sold at: KidsWorld, Geoffrey Stores, Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores nationwide, and at www.babiesrus.com from March 2004 through January 2009 for $220 to $330.
Remedy: Contact Jardine to receive a full credit toward the purchase of a new crib.

Units: About 3,000 cribs and about 6,000 matching furniture pieces
Importer: Muniré Furniture Inc., of Piscataway, N.J.
Hazard: The red paint under the black finish paint on some of the cribs and furniture contains lead, which can cause adverse health effects if ingested.
Description: The Newport Rubbed Black cribs and furniture were manufactured between April 2006 and November 2008. For a list of recalled model numbers and products, visit www.cpsc.gov.
Sold at: Specialty furniture stores nationwide for about $600 for the crib and $700 to $1,000 for the furniture.
