The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. For a complete list of recalled products, visit www.cpsc.gov.
Thirty-two children have suffocated or strangled to death in drop-side cribs since 2000.
These cribs pose a danger to babies when their drop-sides detach or malfunction, creating a space between the drop-side and the crib where babies can become trapped. Even normal wear and tear can cause drop-sides to break.
In the last five years, more than 7 million drop-side cribs have been recalled, including more than 2 million cribs recalled recently from the following firms:
Child Craft, (this firm is out of business)
Delta Enterprise Corp., of New York
Evenflo, of Miamisburg, Ohio
Jardine Enterprises, of Taipei, Taiwan
LaJobi, of Cranbury, N.J.
Million Dollar Baby, of Montebello, Calif.
Pottery Barn Kids, of San Francisco
Simmons Juvenile Products Inc. (SJP), of New London, Wis.
If your crib is recalled, you should find another place for your child to sleep. For a list of all recalled cribs, visit www.cpsc.gov.
