The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s new searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Hazard: The drop-side rails on the crib can malfunction, detach or fall down unexpectedly, creating a space where an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, trapped or fall out.
Description: Recalled are Scroll cribs (model 343-8225; sold 01/2006 to 12/2010) and Lauren cribs (model 343-9117; sold 01/2007 to 12/2010) that came in antique white, pecan and dark cherry. Model numbers and date codes are on the inside of the crib’s end panels.
Sold at: jcpenney.com and in the JCPenney catalog for $300 to $450.
Remedy: Contact Yu Wei for a free kit to immobilize the drop side. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child’s age.
