The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s new searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.
Units: About 9,400 in the United States and 700 in Canada
Hazard: The handle can detach from the shaker, exposing a rough edge that can cut a child and small steel pellets and a plastic plug that pose choking hazards.
Description: The plastic musical instruments have rounded, egg-shaped tops containing steel pellets and open circular handles. They come in blue and green and are sold separately. “B4” is printed on the rounded top of each shaker.
Sold at: Mail-order catalogs, Web sites and retail stores between August 2010 and March 2011 for about $5.
Remedy: Contact Woodstock Percussion Inc. to receive a $7 refund.
