The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s new searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Retailer: Meijer Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Hazard: Bike pedals can loosen or detach during use, posing a fall hazard.
Description: Two-wheeled youth and adult Huffy, Iron Horse, Mongoose, Northwoods, Pacific, Razor and Schwinn bicycles measuring 20 inches or more assembled at Meijer stores were sold between March and August 2012 and have a Serv-U-Success assembly sticker attached. Bicycles with Serv-U-Success assembly stickers written in green marker are not recalled. A list of affected models is on Meijer’s website, http://www4.meijer.com/recall/bikebooklet.pdf.
Sold at: Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky from March through August 2012 for $60 to $300.
Remedy: Return bicycles to any Meijer for a refund or replacement bicycle of the same type and value and a $10 store coupon.
