Hazard: Infants who are not in the safety harness can slip through an opening between the stroller tray and seat bottom, trapping the child’s neck.
Incidents/injuries: A 6-month-old boy from California died of strangulation after his head was trapped between the seat and the tray of his Peg Perego stroller in 2004.
Description: The Venezia and Pliko-P3 models have a child tray with one cup holder and were available in a variety of colors with the words “Peg Perego” and “Venezia” or “Pliko-P3” printed on the side. The strollers were manufactured between January 2004 and September 2007, prior to the January 2008 voluntary industry standard preventing entrapment and strangulation hazards. Sold at: Various retailers nationwide, including Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby, from January 2004 through September 2010 for $270 to $330 for the Pliko P-3 stroller and $350 to $450 for the Venezia stroller.
