The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s new searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Hazard: Infants and young children can roll off the edge of the inflatable air mattress, become entrapped between the mattress and the fabric sides of the tent, and suffocate.

Incidents: A 5-month-old boy died in December 2011 and was found with his face pressed against the side wall of the tent. The cause of death was not determined. In addition, there were six reports in the United States and three in Canada of children who became entrapped or experienced physical distress in the product.

Description: The small, portable sleep tents are marketed for use by infants from birth to 3 years, depending on the model. Tents have a zippered side and an inflatable air mattress that fits into a zippered pocket underneath the floor of the tent. The tents fold into a compact round shape and come with a fabric bag for storage and transport. Recalled models are: P100 teal, P101 red, P102 lime, P103 periwinkle, P104 ocean, P201 princess/red, P202 camouflage, P203 quick silver, P204 sagebrush, P205 cardinal and P900CS green.

Sold at: Independent juvenile specialty stores nationwide and at Amazon.com from January 2005 through November 2012 for $70 to $100.
